Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has said that a committee would be set up to investigate and verify the true identities of people that settled in communities in the last five years and acquired landed properties due to persistent security challenges facing the state.
Bello stated this when he paid a Sallah homage on the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Alhaji Muhammadu Barau Muazu II, at his palace in Kontagora.
He said the verification exercise had become necessary in order to rid the Kontagora Emirate and other communities affected by banditry of informants and kidnappers.
He said though there was relative peace in the state, the government will not relent in its efforts towards ending the nefarious activities of bandits.

The governor used the opportunity to remind the people of the demolition exercise of houses built on Kontagora Dam waterways as residents of the affected buildings have been compensated by the state government.
The Sarkin Sudan, in his remarks, assured the governor of the support of traditional institutions in restoring peace to bandits’ ravaged communities.
