As insecurity worsens across Nigeria, SEMACO Boss, Christian Shola, has advised President Bola Tinubu to recognise the political dimensions of the crisis and act decisively.

According to Shola, the persistent violence across the country is not solely a security failure but also linked to deeper political rivalries, particularly North-South power dynamics.

Nigeria continues to face a complex security landscape, including Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, banditry in the North-West, and recurring communal clashes in the Middle Belt. In recent years, criminal networks have expanded their operations, exploiting weak governance structures and economic hardship.

Shola urged the President to overhaul the nation’s security leadership, insisting that new appointees should emerge through a more strategic and community-engaged model, referencing the leadership style of Enoch Adeboye.

He also called for collaboration with foreign security experts and the acquisition of modern surveillance and combat equipment.

Beyond military action, he stressed the importance of empathy, urging Remi Tinubu to engage directly with victims of violence.

While acknowledging Tinubu as “a good leader,” Shola warned that political actors could be exploiting insecurity to undermine the administration, urging Nigerians not to deepen divisions through distrust.
