The agency secretary, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Shadrach Haruna, has said one of the great panaceas to good governance and tackling of insecurity is by eradicating illicit drug use among both youths and leaders in the nation.

Haruna spoke with newsmen at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Jos Plateau State capital, after making a presentation to participants of Senior Executive Course 44 2022.

He said, “”As you all know, drugs fuels banditry, terrorism and most forms of criminality. That is why we are working towards ensuring drug control so that it can reduce all the strife and violence in the nation. Achieving this will lead to peace, development and economic advancement of the nation. 

“So if we can take away drugs generally from the youths, those who govern us and the society in general, violence and insecurity will reduce,” he said.

He called on all the members of the society to join hands with the agency to tackle this menace for the good of all and sundry.

The NIPSS Director General, Prof Ayo Omotayo, in his remarks said security in the nation remains the panacea of growth in the nation and that is why it is being given prominence in the course.
