Insecurity: National Youth Assembly Calls For Urgent Action

The National Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN), has expressed its deep concerns over the prevailing insecurity in the country, particularly in the northern region.

The call was made by Usman Shagari, the National Speaker of the assembly, during a news conference in Abuja on Thursday.

Shagari said: “As an assembly representing the interests and aspirations of Nigerian youth, we have been actively collaborating with various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and dedicated youth groups to amplify the voice of the people to the government and relevant stakeholders.

“This collaborative effort aims to foster meaningful dialogue and effective resolutions to address the pressing issue of insecurity.

“The recent abduction of schoolgirls in Zamfara state has brought renewed anguish and discontent among Nigerians. The National Youth Assembly of Nigeria stands united with the families affected by this heinous act, and we demand immediate action from the government to ensure the safe return of these innocent girls.

“We express our utmost disappointment with the current outcome and call on the government to take swift and decisive measures to secure their release.

“Despite our disappointment, we remain resolute in our commitment to constructive engagement with the government and respective parties.

“Furthermore, the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria urges the government to prioritize the safety and well-being of all Nigerians. We call for increased investment in security infrastructure, enhanced intelligence gathering, and the prompt reformation of the security agencies to ensure their effectiveness and accountability.”
