The operatives of Nigerian Navy has entered into partnership with the management of the Federal Polytechnic Idah in kogi state to collaborate together in order to stem the tide of criminal activities in the institution and its environs.

The Rector of the institution,Dr Yahaya Baba Usman disclosed this in Idah yesterday, when he received the Commanding Officer, Naval Outpost Idah, (Naval Base) in his office,Commander Nelson Oyagha .

He said such collaboration is necessary at this period in the life of the institution as it will bring peace within and outside the environment of the institution for an enduring academic exercise .

The Rector commended the officers of the Naval outpost, Idah for their professional conducts in maintaining peace within the institution and its environs all this while ,which he said has reduced criminal activities in the enclave.

He condemned in totality the act of spraying money during the “sign out” programme period by graduating students in the institution, saying, such behaviour is uncalled for as it can lead to breach of peace and violence in the process.

The Rector added that the ensuing collaboration with the operatives of Navy will therefore help in enforcing the ban on the “sign out” behaviour of the graduating students which is often characterized by “Yahoo boys” spraying money,
accompanied by security personnel .

In his response, commander Oyagha pledged their support to the polytechnic’s management in its attempt to tackle bedevilled security challenges, by stepping up intelligence gathering to enhance their operations in that direction.

Also, he sought collaboration with the institution on the flood awareness campaign programme during this wet season to save life and property as the water level is rising on daily basis, noting that it is one of the core mandates of the Nigerian Navy.

The meeting was witnessed by members of the top Management Committee (TMC) of the polytechnic and senior officers of the operatives of Navy , including LT .PI Ogbe, LT Y B Usman, SLT D S Maikudi, among others
