Insecurity: Non-implementation of policies responsible for country’s woes – Lalong
Lalong, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Sonny Tyoden, said Nigeria was often good when it came to policy
Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has said that non-implementation of government policies is responsible for the country’s woes.
Lalong disclosed this in Jos while receiving members of the Senior Executive Course 43, of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos, at the Government House.
While expressing concern over the problem, the governor said despite workshops, conferences, and seminars with good recommendations, everything often ended on the shelves.
Lalong, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Sonny Tyoden, said Nigeria was often good when it came to policy formulation, but never active in terms of implementation of those policies, hoping that after this year’s course, Nigeria would take a new approach in terms of policy implementation.
The governor, however, tasked the participants to see the programme as an opportunity to contribute their quota to the development of the country and challenged them to do the needful by providing useful suggestions.
Earlier, the NIPSS’s Acting Director, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Udaya, represented by the Director of Studies, Professor Funmi Para Mallam, said giving the current state of the country, it was critical to implement policies. He thanked the governor for the support the institution enjoys in the state.
