Operation Rainbow, a Plateau State security outfit has recruited 600 vigilantes to strengthen internal security operations and tackle insecurity bedeviling the state.

Inaugurating the recruited vigilantes, at the Rwang Pam stadium, Jos, the Commander, Operation Rainbow, AIG Dapub Makama (rtd), said they were drawn from their localities to help provide early warning signals in case of threat to peace and security.

He said the choice of the vigilantes were part of a strategic plan to strengthen the activities of Operation Rainbow and that the outfit was mainly set up for community policing duties by operatives in their various localities.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, said the revitalisation of the state security outfit was part of his administration’s effort to ensure the security of lives and property.

“We are witnessing the passing out of a crop of 600 gallant operatives who were carefully selected out of the numerous citizens of Plateau State,” she said.

The governor warned the operatives that his administration would not allow indiscipline and unprofessional conduct from them.
