The Ohimegye of Igu-Kotonkarfe kingdom, Alhaji Abdulrazak Isah Koto, has said the spate of insecurity in the last three to four years has made farmlands insecure for his subjects.

Alhaji Isah Koto stated this when he received an 11-man committee on Agricultural Revolution, which was inaugurated by the local government chairman, Alhaji Isah Abdulkarim, at his palace on Wednesday.

He said it was on record that the Confluence State was blessed with abundant water resources, which he said should enable farmers to engage more in farming, but were instead affected by the spate of insecurity.

He said the first thing members of the committee should take into cognizance, before embarking on their assignment, was how to address the insecurity situation.

He said that would give the rural farmers more courage to go to their farms, adding that the committee should also see how the farmers would be encouraged on irrigation farming in the area.

“You can recall that the last flood in this kingdom left many people displaced and devastated. We are yet to recover, so I want this committee to also find ways of seeing how the victims would go into irrigation farming to assist them recoup,” he said.

The chairman of the committee,  Musa Hussaini Awodi, told the monarch that they were in the palace to seek for his blessing and support.
