Not quite a few will disagree with me that Nigeria resembles a phoenix-like entity, a sort of a proverbial cat with nine lives, able to meander itself out of trouble unscathed at all times. It survives many evil machinations like the costly Civil War, numerous military putsches, culminating in the dangerous Orkar Coup which sought to excise a substantial part of the country from the federation. It also survived numerous ethnic and religious pogroms, aimed at destabilization and scuttling of its journey toward greatness and prosperity.
If the current insecurity was purportedly designed to dismember the nation into a banana republic for easy access to free natural resources and control  by the Western powers and their local agents, that has obviously failed, because it’s an exercise in futility, given that people have seen through the thinly disguise veil. If, on the other hand, it was designed to weaken the country for some sinister motives in a bid to recolonize the country, that too, seem to be an uphill task and a mere temporary setback.
The senseless bombings of churches by people who dress so often as Muslims, aimed at generating religious and/or ethnic war with a view to Rwandanise the country, which will lead to the ultimate desecration and destruction of the country, has also failed so far. Ditto, bombing of mosques and other places of worship and gathering.
In their murderous haste to actualize their sinister motives, the agents of doom, more often than not, failed to differentiate their targets. Muslims, Christians and atheists have always fallen victims. Mercifully, however, Nigerians have seen through all the façade. They now know that the target has never been religious or geographical or tribe, but the soul of the country!
So far, ongoing terrorism in the form of suicide bombing, mass killings, assassinations, various militias masquerading as Fulani herdsmen, Christian crusaders, cattlerustlers and above all Boko Haram, with all their appendages and affiliates have failed to break the collective resolves of Nigerians to keep their beloved country strong and united. The resilience of Nigerians amidst travails shall triumph at the end of the day.
Many factors, it must be stressed, encourage our positive outlook and optimism on this score.
First, the ongoing bring back our girls campaign to force the federal government to return our abducted girls alive, hale and hearty, which brought about true Nigerian spirit to the fore, irrespective of gender discriminations, ethnic and/or religious considerations, is a case in point. This in itself is another pointer to the fact that Nigeria will definitely survive the evil machinations of all her enemies and traducers within and without.
Second, in the aftermath of Jos bombings, citizens of Jos were heard saying  in the media that the killings were not targeted at any particular religion, and as such, people should go about their normal businesses unhindered and unmolested. This cheering news is enough to let the masterminds and their sponsors know that they have lost their investment again and will never achieve their dastardly objectives in so far as Nigeria’s unity and indestructibility is concerned.
The inherent belief that this country will surely emerge stronger, more united and more prosperous and peaceful at the end of it all has never been stronger than now. I can see light at the end of the tunnel.
