Addressing journalists on the proposed agricultural summit, NISLT Registrar/Director General, Dr Ighodalo Ijagbone, said the summit, which is the 29th of its kind, will be hosted in Ilorin Kwara state, because of the state’s agricultural programs and projects in recent years.
“This year’s main theme is ‘the role of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) in Food Security: Adding Value to the Food Chain.’  The choice of this topic was influenced mainly by the fact that agriculture is a core component of the transformation agenda of the federal government, and Kwara state is known to have invested so much in agricultural programs and projects,” Ijagbone said.
“Our national discourse on it during the conference will focus on the role of science laboratory technology in adding value to food security in the country. Our specific roles include laboratory investigations and analysis of soil fertility, quality of fertilizers, monitoring growth of crops, nutritive values of various food products, effect of pesticides as food residues and food poisoning, among others,” Ijagbone said.
