The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has inducted 194 civil servants as new associates and full members in Ogun State.

The ceremony took place at the 37th induction of the CIPM in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

In his remarks, the President/Chairman of CIPM, Wale Adediran, said the induction demonstrated the new members’ dedication to professionalism and people development.

He said the business environments in both the public and private sectors have been changing rapidly and human resource management is “key in accountability and helping organisations navigate through the disruptions effectively.”

Adediran explained that the 194 civil servants became qualified after passing some professional examinations.

The CIPM president disclosed that the institute was training civil servants in the Admin and HR cadre in some South-West states.

He said that HR has an important role to play in helping organisations navigate through disruptions.

The CIPM president charged the new inductees to strive to become a transformational force in the civil service in the state.

“We have made positive strides in training civil servants in the administration and human resources cadre in some South-West states and Ogun is the second state where qualified candidates were inducted.

‘‘I want the newly inducted members to know that more value would be expected from you in the area of people management.

Most importantly, remember that you have become ambassadors of the CIPM,’’ he said.

In her remarks, the Head of Service in the state, Tpl Amope Chokor, charged the inductees to ensure they transform the public service in the state.

The HOS who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Kola Fagbohun, said the responsibility of having a better public service has been vested upon the newly inductees.

She further urged them to collaborate with other professional bodies so as to achieve development for the state.

The guest lecturer, Princess Adenike Adedoyin-Ajayi, said the inductees should focus on every aspect that would make the civil service in the state better.

She added that they must see the state government as a business partner.
