This was disclosed to newsmen by Dr. Eziashi Emmanuel Ifechwukudi  who led the NIFOR/WAAPP team to Jigawa yesterday.
He said they have developed a bio-pesticide against termites not just in Jigawa but other areas that suffer from termites attack, adding that the pests destroy large areas of cropland each year thereby reducing food supply.
The Jigawa State officer in charge of NIFOR office, Dr. Collins Omokhudu, said last month they held meeting with farmers who were into date palm production, maize, sorghum, millet among others on the danger of termites and the new bio-pesticides available to fight the menace, adding that demonstration farms have been put in place in Dutse and Birnin Kudu to show farmers how to use the product.
