Institute organizes workshop on propagating culture for national development

The workshop organized by the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) with the theme  “Cultural values, our greatest  asset”  witnessed  paper  presentations  by distinguished  resource persons  invited  to talk on cultural  values and  its importance in  national development.

Speaking at the occasion, Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Alhaji  Abubakar  Sadiq Mohammed  noted that the workshop will  further enhance the propagation of cultural excellence and chart a new course to follow  in our cultural values and development.

In his opening speech, National President Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mallam Garba Muhammad said the union  is collaborating   with NICO  in promoting and preserving Nigeria’s cultural heritage, saying the  union will continue to promote the cause of  having a decent society, especially  at this material  time that governments and individuals are  talking of exposing  Nigerians to  indigenous culture.

In his address, Executive Secretary of NICO, Dr. Barclay Ayakoroma said the workshop drew together experienced participants from all over the country who have weathered the storm as far as Art writing is concerned to rub minds  on how to promote and preserve our cultural values and heritage.

The workshop was graced by seasoned journalists, stakeholders and traditional leaders.
