The Certified Institute of Auctioneers of Nigeria (CIAN) has again reviewed its curriculum on Basic Auctioneers course to include Online Course and examination to provide a uniform benchmark for individuals and companies willing to engage in the practice of auction and Auctioneering in Nigeria.
CIAN Basic Auctioneers Course have been approved by the governing council of the Institute thus providing sufficient and minimum auction education for new entrants registration as Certified Auctioneers with the Institute.
The courses includes; bid calling drills, real estate, personal properties (Automobile, office & household equipments, Industrial machines, Agriculture, Art and Antiques) benefits Auctions, Online Auctions Technology , Government Auctions, auctioneers contract, legal liabilities and code of professional ethics for auctioneers.
Online resources are all in modules reading materials format with examination to follow suit via a CBT format. As agreed, the pass mark is 60%. for qualification in the induction program of the institute which will metamorphose into membership registration as a certified Auctioneer.
Other aspects of the course include preparation for the auction day, commission bids, auctioneers sheet and conditions of sale, auction process and many more for anyone aspiring to be an auctioneer or companies thinking of setting up an auction department.
The institute is also introducing mandatory continuing education to brush up the knowledge of practicing auctioneers in line with international best practices
