Jibrin made the appeal when the Executive Director and Editor in Chief of Media Trust, Mannir Dan Ali visited the school recently.He said the need for such relationship was to further strengthen the already existing rapport with the Trust papers;  Daily Trust, Weekly Trust, Sunday Trust, Aminiya and Kano Chronicle, which he described as his departments’ major pool of resources in research and teaching.

“I wish to inform you that your papers have been providing us with useful information on how best to improve on our courses to develop our curricula,” he said.

Jibrin said the department would also respond to the request by offering tutorial opportunities for Trust’s editorial staff in the Department.

He also disclosed his readiness to encourage some of their best students take up employment with Media Trust and persuade them to contribute to the editorial content of Trust’s papers particularly Campus pages of Daily Trust and Kano Chronicle, Trust’s Kano based community newspaper.

Speaking earlier, Dan Ali said he was at the department to re-establish relationship and encourage the department to utilise the company’s new employment policy of giving automatic employment to best Mass Communication students.

He called on the head of the department to encourage students to contribute to the editorial contents of any of the Trust’s titles.

The Editor in Chief subsequently featured in a live radio programme of the department.
