Insurgency: Japan to provide humanitarian support to Nigeria

The Japanese ambassador to Nigeria Mr Ryuichi Shoji gave this indication at a media parley to host the visiting Japanese environment minister at the sidelines of the World Economic Forum for Africa which ended in Abuja last week.
The ambassador said: “we are discussing with the UNODC to know areas where we can be of help. We will like to help mitigate the negative effect of the humanitarian situation that would arise from the crises.”
Shoji said Japan does not have military that can directly intervene like other countries are offering but they have self-defense security arrangement that would be ready to support any United Nations activity in Nigeria.
The envoy said it may be possible to also support in the area of technology and machinery.
