The cattle market was opened by Tukur and Tukur Farms in conjunction with Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association.
In his address during the opening ceremony, National President of Miyetti Allah, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, said the market aims to serve as a major cattle selling hub for Fulani nomads from within and outside Nigeria.
Bodejo said the choice of Tudu Uku village was unanimously adopted by the various participating Fulani groups in the country, due to its large grazing reserve and settlement for the Fulani community of the region.
The president disclosed that the association deemed it appropriate to establish the cow market against the short changing scenarios in other markets.
Such shortchanging experiences have always left the nomads with little or no profits, thereby the need to establish the market to be handled by the nomads.
He acknowledged the ability of the nomads to market their cattle themselves against the previous situations.
On his part, Director of the Tukur and Tukur Farms, Malam Tukur Tukur, disclosed the decision of the farm to go into joint venture with Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and establish an international cattle market that is close to the thousands of Fulani nomads.
Tukur said there is a large number of Fulani communities in the north central part of the country due to the large grazing nature of the area.
