A Nigeria National League outfit, Inter Lagos FC has revealed its plan to gain promotion into the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL in the next five years.

The Lagos-based club began its stint in the country’s second-tier league in the 2023/24 league season, winning their last five and are currently second in the Conference B table of the 2023/24 league with 16 points.

Despite their performance, the club’s CEO, Lanre Vigo during the official unveiling of the club held yesterday, disclosed that the club’s 5-years plan, adding the club want to inject new life in a bid to resuscitate fans’ engagement.

“That is the sort of football club we are trying to build. We are trying to build something different. People come to our game and they ask when the next game will be. They come to experience the fun of the game.

“I know what used to make fans return to the stadium, so we try to emulate that here in Nigeria. You see that when you come to our game, we have a half-time show where we engage the fans but really and truly we need the fans,” he added.

However, he alluded that running a professional football club is capital intensive, but said the motivation behind forging ahead is to build a legacy.

“What we budgeted and what we spent so far, the difference is clear but we are very happy that we are going it because one of the reasons why we are going to start this is for us to have an impact in the state, country and the lives of our players,” he said.

Also, one of the co-founder, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Fashoyin, assured the welfare of the players.

“For our players with comprehensive sports science and medical, we ensure their welfare on and off the pitch. They have access to the best physiotherapists, have personalised future plans even with training. They have training specialised skills to help their individual and overall growth,” she said.
