The event, which held at Zinnia Hall, Eko Expo Hall, Eko Hotel, featured speakers that include the past President, International Union of Architects (IUA), Mr. Femi Majekodun, President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Ibrahim Abdullahi Haruna and Mr. Kunlé Adeyemi, founder of NLÉ, an international architecture, design and urbanism practice, with a focus on developing cities.
According to the organiser, and also the Publisher, Essential Interiors Magazine, Ms. Titi Ogufere, said the conference examined the key drivers for Urban and Interior Design with leading experts and practitioners from Nigeria and around the world gathering to discuss and demonstrate Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable urban development and global interiors.
She revealed that the IDEA awards is the premier awards for the Nigerian architecture and interior design industry, set up to recognise talents, contributions and success of design in Nigeria where exceptional architects, interior designers and builders were  recognized at the gala dinner.
Principal Partner, AD Consulting, Mrs. Olajumoke Adenowo, said the IDEA awards is about raising the bar of architecture and design saying it was obvious that there is a lack of understanding among some people on who an architect is. She said with this lecture Nigerians’ consciousness would be raised.
Adenowo, an architect and partner of the event, said the nation’s housing industry is what it is today because of inappropriate planning, adding that design and architecture is life.
  “The insecurity, dysfunctional society and communities and many other issues which the nations battle today are directly linked with architecture and design.”
