A 30-year-old interior decorator, identified as Esohe Aigbe, has reportedly been killed by suspected assailants in Edo State.
The incident occurred on Ojo Street in the Ogida area of Oredo Local Government Area.
Sources said the deceased had gone to the community to assist a friend with decorating a venue for a funeral ceremony when she was attacked by unknown persons.
According to eyewitness accounts, Aigbe had completed her work but remained at the venue when the assailants allegedly attacked her with a cutlass, dragged her away from the scene, and left her in a pool of blood.
She was reportedly rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for treatment but later died from her injuries.
The family of the deceased has alleged foul play and called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu, said a female suspect had been arrested in connection with the case.
“Yes, we have a female suspect in custody,” the police spokesperson said.
Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are ongoing.
