International Fashion Week tagged “Native Vague”.
Mrs Semenitari, who spoke to journalist in Port Harcourt, said  the event was a platform to groom young and emerging designers, thereby enhancing the fashion industry of the state to compete on a global scale.
 Semenitari said the State government was using the Port Harcourt International Fashion week which started last year to “empower her youths, foster and groom them into developing skills that will make them entrepreneurs and better employers of labour.’
 She said free workshops will be facilitated by local and international designers to encourage young designers and persons who desire to venture into fashion designing.
 “We encourage young designers to key into this opportunity. Port Harcourt is set to host distinguished guests from the international fashion scene during this three day program which promises to be a spectacle and an awesome display of the vibrant Nigerian and African fashion style .This will largely reduce unemployment and youths redundancy,” she said.
She  expressed  optimism that the event scheduled for September 19 to 21 of September, 2014, will attract local and international tourists to the state, and ‘thus confirm its boast as the choice destination for tourists.
 She further said the state government had continued with the programme due to the success recorded at the maiden edition, saying it has also retained the services of its expert partners-New Mantra and Bunor Creazioni, whose expertise contributed to that achievement.
 Giving details of the event, Managing Director of Neo Mantra, partners of the Rivers State Government, Nkiru Oguadinma said international models will be coming from South Africa, United Kingdom and Canada to spice up the event.
 According to her  “International models, about 10 of them, would be coming from South Africa, Uk and Canada to Port Harcourt to complement the people we already have here in Nigeria. So, we will like the up and coming, even the young models here to also interact with them to also see how long they can go on the runway.
 “We are also expecting about eight designers from outside the country. Designers like Mudi Africa, Ade Adebayo from the Uk, Yomi Kosiba  as well will be here,” she said.
