 Wada said this while responding to questions from newsmen at the end of the award giving ceremony of the Sa’adu Bori Memorial Cup competition organized by the Freedom Radio in Kano, last week.

According to him, “I don’t think that intimidation is the best way to effect corrections in the film and music industries. Instead, the filmmakers and musicians should be treated with empathy, they should be brought close to the persons effecting the corrections and then, the best results could be achieved”.

He maintained that the best option to censoring any profession is by having a good understanding of the profession, as well as having a cordial relationship with those affected, saying, “one cannot control the individuals he does not want to associate with”.

Wada further called on the authorities in charge of regulating filmmaking and related matters to invest in the film and music industries in order to make the practitioners more comfortable and ready to accept corrections.

He further pledged Freedom Radio’s support to the film and music industries in the country, while he called on youths in the country to come out and showcase their talents in filmmaking, music and other fields.

On the music competition, Wada noted that it was organized as part of the station’s effort to promote Hausa language as well as Hausa musicians.

Sadik Zazzabi emerged the winner of the competition having received the Sa’adu Bori Memorial Award at the end of the competition which was titled, Dandalin Mawaka. Zazzabi’s song, “Mu nemi na kanmu Mubar Maula” competed with seven other songs where the ratings of the songs where done by the audience.
