Investors gain as market cap surges to N114.3trn

The capitalisation surged to N114.3 trillion on Wednesday as investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N851 billion at the close of trading.

Amid the sustained momentum in the market, the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 178,184.35 points from the 176,856.04 points recorded on the previous trading day.

After the trading on Wednesday, the equity capitalisation surged to N114.3 trillion from N113.5 trillion posted by the bourse on Tuesday.

The market breadth was positive, with 60 stocks advancing, 19 declining, and 69 remaining unchanged in 61,279 deals.

 

 

 

A total of 939,153,874 shares were traded, valued at N49.1 billion.

 

 

 

Nestle, Meyer, and FTBINSURE led the gainers’ chart, with 10% growth in share prices, respectively, to close at N2420.00, N20.90, and N0.33 per share, up from N2,200.00, N19.00, and N0.30 per share.

 

 

 

Hony Flour, Neimeth, and TIP led other price decliners with a 9.70%, 9.15% and 5.81% dip each in share price to close at N22.80, N12.90, and N19.45 per share, down from the previous N25.25, N14.20, and N20.65 per share

 

 

 

On the volume index, Tantalizer led trading with 85 million shares in 1,456 deals, followed by Access Holding Plc, which traded 61 million shares in 2,192 deals.

 

 

 

Chams traded 38 million shares in 1,011 deals.

 

 

 

On the value index, Aradel traded stocks valued at N2.9 billion in 1,686 deals, followed by MTN Nigeria, which traded equities worth N2.8 billion in 3,837 deals.

 

 

 

Zenith Bank traded shares valued at N2.7 billion in 2,366 deals.
