Speaking to Trustsports, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, executive committee member said in as much as the team could not win any trophy last season, the players impressed him and so majority of them would be retained.

He noted that it was hard to explain what happened to the team last season because the team played good football but was unable to achieve the desired results.

According to him, the players were simply unlucky as most times, they showed commitment and determination without recording the victories they deserved.

“The players did very well last season. The fact that we could not win any trophy last season was not due to lack of good players. Lobi Stars boast of some of the best players in the league. It is hard to explain what really went wrong. But I can tell you that it was because of hard luck which translated into failure to convert chances that were created. The attackers created chances but could not take them” he explained.

“The players were highly motivated. The team got full backing of the state government so it wasn’t a case of lack of motivation. The team was simply unlucky”.

Iorfa therefore said as the club begins preparation for the coming season, few players would be invited to join the team as he stressed that Lobi Stars would not go for massive recruitment of new players.

“We have penciled five or six players we hope to use in strengthening the team. By the time we sign the new players, Lobi Stars will be set for the challenges ahead”.

The club chairman, however, expressed disappointment over the failure of his club to clinch one of the continental tickets.

He assured the clubs teeming fans that their darling team will bounce back strongly as it will not fail to pick a ticket to play on the continent at the end of the season.

“We know how our fans feel about the past season but I assure them that everything would be done to get them a continental ticket this coming season. All we need is fair criticism and support from the government and people of Benue State’’
