Although they can now heave a sigh of relief, Vice-Chairman of Lobi Stars, Dominic Iorfa, has said there will be no complacency in the remaining matches.

On Sunday, Lobi Stars fought back to earn a crucial 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers, Katsina United in Makurdi to leapfrog them to the 15th position on the log.

Before the week 27 fixture, Lobi Stars were 17th on the table with 29 points from 26 matches.

They now boast 32 points, two more than Katsina United and Dakkada FC who are placed 16th and 17th on the table.

In a chat with Daily Trust, Iorfa disclosed that it took diligence, hard work and determination to win the double home matches that lifted the club out of the relegation zone.

The former Nigerian international, however, said the camp of Lobi Stars is not carried away by the achievement as he maintained that there are still many rivers to cross.

“We are approaching the end of the season so every team knows where they belong and what is expected of them.

“Lobi Stars had found themselves in a precarious situation but with the support of the state government, the new management is doing everything to keep the club in the topflight.

“Of course, we are out of the drop zone but we won’t drop our guard. We are ready to fight for every available point. It is only when we garner enough points that our place in the elite division will be guaranteed,” said Iorfa.

Next for Lobi Stars is a trip to former African champions, Enyimba on Saturday, May 14.
