Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to speed up hearing of a forgery case against Plateau state lawmaker Ibrahim Hassan.

The case brought by Abdul Saleh alleges Hassan forged his diploma certificate and has stalled since last October at the Jos federal high court.

IPAC’s petition says the case stopped for six months without cogent reason after University of Jos registrar Monday Danjem testified in court.

In the petition, IPAC deputy chairman Ahmed Sani  said other criminal and civil cases before Justice Musa Kurya have not been heard since.

While reiterating on the continuation of the case, the group further explained that the issue was pre-election matter filed over two years but yet to be determined, adding that the tenure of the office of House of Assembly is four years, which is fast running.

The group however called on the CJN, Attorney General of the Federation and Chief Judge of Federal High Court to as a matter of fairness, justice and democratic development to order the presiding judge to continue hearing of the case.
