Iranian artist showcases callio-painting in Abuja

Iranian artist Mahdi Razi exhibited his ‘callio-painting’, a combination of calligraphy and painting recently.

The exhibition took place at the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Abuja with the Director-general of NCAC, Otunba Segun Runsewe, Iranian Ambassador Mr. Morteza Rahimi Zarchi, Cultural Consular Mr. Sayed Mahmoud Azimi in attendance.

Razi said Iran is “mother of many arts,” and the basis of his art calligraphy. “With callio-painting, we are going beyond the classic job. It’s multi-dimensional art which has other interwoven aspects into it.”

The artist also pointed out that callio-opainting can convey a lot of meaning. “One aspect is the beauty and visual art which has implicit or explicit meaning to the viewer.   

Razi, who is from Yaz Province in Iran expressed delight at the prospect of corroborating with Nigerian artists whom he invited to visit his country.

Aside the exhibition, a one-day training in the art of calligrapghy and other creative skills was organised by NCAC.
