English Premier League giants Liverpool have swiftly announced Spanish coach Andoni Iraola as the new head coach to replace Arne Slot.
The club revealed that Iraola, who left Bournemouth at the end of the just-concluded season, will lead Liverpool into next season.
His contract length was not disclosed.
Nevertheless, the coach who led Bournemouth to its highest ever league finish and qualify for Europe next season for the first time ever, could not contain his excitement as the new manager of the Reds.
The manager, saddled with revitalizing a poor Liverpool team that tamely surrendered the EPL title to Arsenal in the concluded season, revealed he could not resist the temptation of joining Liverpool after three seasons with Bournemouth.
“Really excited, really excited. Because obviously you know about Liverpool, you know that it’s a big club, a massive club, one of the biggest in the world.
“But feeling inside and understanding a little bit more of this club, I always thought it’s a special club.
“You don’t need a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool. Liverpool is Liverpool.”
The 43-year-old coach further revealed his readiness to start the new role, and stated that the possibility of winning titles with world class players was too good to resist.
“But obviously the atmosphere, the supporters, the club, the players, the chance for me to coach top-level players, the chance to fight for titles.
“I think it cannot be more attractive than this. It’s difficult to find it. So, really excited to start.”
Iraola is in his fifth role as a head coach, and has won just one trophy in eight years as a manager, claiming the 2018 Super Cup with AEK Larnaca in Cyprus
