For the umpteenth time, the StarTimes/NPFL has again witnessed unruly behaviour from home fans who attacked the visiting teams.
In a make or mar clash yesterday at the Pantami Stadium, Doma United fans on two occasions disrupted the matchday 37 proceedings against visiting Sunshine Stars.
Prior to this clash, both teams needed a win to remain in the premier league ahead of the final fixtures on Sunday.
The home team in the early minutes of the game, controlled proceedings as they fought to get the much-needed goal and win but their efforts were undone in the 38th minute when Ibrahim Yusuf put Sunshine Stars ahead and ensure the first half ended 1-0.
Upon restart of the second half, it became tense with the home team putting the visitors under pressure just as Doma fans began throwing stones on the pitch. Play was paused to restore some calm.
However, that was short-lived as again the match was halted in the dying minutes of the game with the home team losing.
It took efforts of security operatives and few officials of the home team to calm the angry fans with the visitors holding on the slim win to secure an all-important three points.
Following this result, Doma United remain in the relegation zone on 18th position with 43 points while Sunshine Stars have now secured their place in the premier league after moving to 10th position on 52 points.
Meanwhile, it will be intense final battle on Sunday when Kano Pillars, Kwara United, Niger Tornadoes, Bayelsa United, Akwa United, Sporting Lagos and Doma United fight to remain in the league just as Heartland FC and Gombe United are already relegated.
