An angry mob at the Oloki junction, Ede, Osun State, yesterday killed a final year Building Technology student of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Fisayo Olorunfemi.
According to witnesses, the deceased who was said to have been driving a Toyota Camry car registration number AAA 463 DV, allegedly hit a commercial motorcycle, killing its passenger, Islamat Bello, on the spot.
The death of the 18-year-old girl angered some youths who descended on the student and killed him in the process.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, confirmed the incident to our correspondent in the state.
Adeoye said, “I’m surprised and worried that people can still engage in mob action in this age over an accident. They just killed that student for nothing because his death cannot bring the young lady back. It was very unfortunate. People should shun this kind of uncivilised behaviour”.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State police command, Folashade Odoro, told Daily Trust that the corpses of the student and the motorcycle passenger had been deposited at the General Hospital, Ede, mortuary.
