Operatives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Intelligence Response Team (IRT) stormed another kidnappers den on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway and arrested two notorious kidnap kingpins on the police wanted list.

Those arrested were identified as  Adamu Lawan ,30, and Aminu Lawan 25.

 

They were arrested with severe bullet wounds after they engages the police team in a fierce gun battle.

 

The IRT men on the same day arrested seven kidnap suspects in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

 

The team led by Abba Kyari, an Assistant Commissioner of Police also  recovered from the kidnappers den, two AK47 rifles with S/no 5390 and 25401 and 135 rounds of live ammunition.

 

The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Moshood Jimoh who confirmed the latest arrest said that the office of the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim, has been inundated with the activities of the gang.

 

Jimoh, a Chief Superintendent of Police, the police authority had earlier places the two suspects on it’s wanted list because of the activities which, he said had become so notorious.

 

He said that on Sunday, December 17, 2017, operatives of the IRT attached to Operation Absolute Sanity stormed the some criminals hideout around 9.30pm.

 

He said on sighting the police team the robbers opened fire on them.

 

According to him, the two suspect who were later arrested sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds.

 

He said: "They have both confessed to several kidnappings along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway and Jere-Kagarko Road all in Kaduna State. Serious efforts to arrest more Gang members in Progress."
