Is sacrifice enough to secure Amaechi APC’s blessings?

For anyone who has watched carefully the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) about a decade ago, the name Rotimi Amaechi has almost become symbolic to sacrifice and courage. At a time the sitting President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who hailed from the south-south region was aiming for another shot at re-election, Rotimi Amaechi, then, tagged a betrayer, had gone against his kinsmen to champion the campaign of a Muhammadu Buhari from Daura in Katsina State.

At 57, Amaechi, a former speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two times governor of River State and Nigeria’s immediate past Minister of Transportation, now thinks it is payback time, and to prove his seriousness, he resigned his position as Minister of Transportation to contest the country’s presidency under the ruling APC.
