At a time he is facing a crisis of confidence with his people, following the pattern of voting at the PDP Presidential primaries held at the Eagle Square in Abuja on January, 13th 2011, one would have expected Lamido to preoccupy himself with the challenge of how to win back the trust of his people who were left looking stupid after the entire South voted for President Goodluck Jonathan while they refused to give a single vote to Atiku Abubakar. If the Southern states were patriotic enough to be even-handed with their votes, Lamido wouldn’t probably have faced his current political crisis of confidence.

After the above brief digression, let us come back to Lamido’s dubious claim of superior morality. If he had limited his loquacity to the defence of destroying zoning, one couldn’t have bothered to respond to Lamido. But when he attempts to insult our intelligence, we must put him in his proper place.

According to the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL), led by a Lagos lawyer, Obasanjo built the Bells University at more than N40 billion when he was worth only N20,000 when he came out of prison in 1998. They also asked him to explain how he got N200 million to buy shares in Transcorp. Access to public office is the only reason for Obasanjo’s overnight acceleration to fabulous wealth. It is therefore, absolute rubbish for Lamido to assume that the PDP is a party of saints.

Public funds were used to finance Lamido’s election in 2007 by the former Saminu Turaki administration. Governor Lamido didn’t use his funds to finance his election. Therefore, can anyone who had benefitted from the diversion of the lean resources of Jigawa to finance his campaign have any basis to call any other person a crook? He who benefits by crime is guilty of it. It is high time Lamido stopped insulting our intelligence.
