The Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society has trained imams and other Islamic clerics on the use of sermons to curb social vices.

The National Chief Imam and Executive Director, the Just Foundation, Imam Fuad Adeyemi, said the training was to sharpen the clerics’ knowledge on how to right the wrongs using sermons.

“We have trained them orally, physically and guided them on how to have a source of income and stop depending on their congregants for their daily livelihood,” he said.

He said the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society has compiled a book to guide imams and religious leaders in talking against corruption in society.

He said, “We are doing a tutorial to guide them on what to say in their sermon. If they know what to say, people will be ready to listen to them because their sermons will be different from abuse.

“At the end, we would have a better country free of corruption and accompanying vices.

“We have also introduced them to different businesses. If they are making money, they will be able to tell the truth.”

He enjoined the imams and Ulamas to know that they are representing Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and invariably they are representing the Almighty Allah.

“Their punishment will be more if they don’t do the right thing which they know,” he said.
