No fewer than 50 Muslim students from secondary schools across Kwara State have benefitted from a career mentorship programme.

The event, which was sponsored by the Standard Bearers Islamic Organisation (SB), Kwara State chapter, also featured the award of United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) forms to students who excelled in the internal examinations conducted by the group.

The Kwara State co-ordinator of the Islamic group, Abdulhafiz Adeagbo, said the mentorship programme was to motivate the youth and secondary school students towards academic excellence.

He said, “One of our objectives is the development of the students and youth to contribute to nation-building. And one of the ways to achieve that is to make education accessible to them.

“That is why we are giving UTME and other O’ level examination forms to the beneficiaries who excel during our internal exams.”

He advised the beneficiaries to take advantage of the programme to improve their educational pursuits.

Dr Nurudeen Abdulraheem, a paediatric surgeon at the University of Ilorin, said Muslim students must always strive to be the best wherever they find themselves.
