Muslim Public Affairs Center (MPAC), a faith based organization, has disclosed  plans  to conduct not less than 200 eye surgery free of charge in Lagos and Kaduna states before the 2016 Ramadan (Muslim annual fasting).
Executive chairman of the group, Disu Kamor,  gave the hint when he led a delegation to the Lagos Zonal office of Media Trust Limited, publishers of the Daily Trust titles yesterday.
He said the surgery is a follow up to a similar outing in 2015 which saw 240 people from Niger, Kwara and Kogi states operated upon in Kwara State with another 70 getting free eye glasses.
Kamor said: “ Our project is to serve humanity, therefore the surgery would target anyone in need and not necessarily the Muslim Umma because every faith must see Nigeria as its constituency.”
He explained that the group is a child of necessity which has taken up the challenge to address the issues of suspicion  around the religion which became renowned after the Septemb       tack in the United States and recently the activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria
According T o him, what they do is to promote shared values as a people and an organization and that is the only way to deepen and expand their existing  relationship which the Quran teaches.
“if you can trust your family with a Muslim medical doctor, you can also co-exist peacefully with a Muslim because the religion teaches peace,” he added.
Mallam Amani Momodu,  the group’s director of administration, who also spoke during the visit, disclosed that the group has recently secured two hectares of  land in the heart of Ibadan where it planned to build world class medical facility to take care of people from all works of life.
He further hinted that plans are underway  to provide water  to communities that have been identified with water related challenges and ailment.
