Bestowing the award on Isoun, Prof. Pat Utomi, Founder of the Centre, noted that the former minister was instrumental to the ICT penetration which the country enjoys today.
“As minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Turner Isoun initiated policies that promoted both high tech and low tech science for development and specifically guided the development and launch of NigeriaSat 1 and NigComSat 1, an earth observation and advanced communication satellites, respectively,” Utomi said.
He noted that Isoun directed the development of policies in a wide range of science and technology sectors including the information communication technology policy that enabled the establishment of critical ICT infrastructure in the country. The award was received on behalf of Prof Isoun by the acting Managing Director of NigComSat Ltd, Mrs Abimbola Alale.
