‘Ìtàn’ (‘The Story’), directed by renowned theatre artist and critic, Ben Tomoloju will be staged at Easter weekend at the Muson Centre by the THESPIAN Family Theatre & Productions (TFT).
The play written by Ayo Jaiyesimi is a very fascinating blend of drama, cultural and contemporary dance and music. It captures the sublime tension and misunderstanding that exists between different age generations – the millennials, in particular. It also outlines subtle modern cultural mismatches.
‘Ìtàn’ showcases Àsìkò (‘Time’ personified) who intervenes in a feud between an old school, die-hard village elder, Pa Latinwo and his newly discovered city, roller-coaster grandson, D-Kay. Àsìkò takes them on a journey into the past and the future as they both discover dark secrets which make them come to terms with the fact that they need each other to survive.
Nobert Young, Segun Dada, Sam Uquah and Wazobia’s Omotunde David aka Lolo 1 make up the cast.
