Chairman, Industrial Global Union, African Region, Comrade Issa Aremu, has said that delayed and non-payment of workers’ salaries by employers should be treated as economic crime by the Federal Government and perpetrators should be made to face the music.
He said  that  it is wrong to tie workers monthly salaries  to the presidential bail outs President Muhammadu  Buhari recently granted some state governors to assist them pay workers’ salaries.
Aremu, who is also the General Secretary of National Union of Textile,Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria(NUTGTWN) emphasized that  workers’ monthly wages are legitimate regular earnings which should not be negotiated.
Workers, he said, have the right to make ungovernable and unmanageable companies that are defaulting on salaries payment, remittance of pension contributions and union dues.
He  enjoined  workers in the country to pool their efforts with a view to confronting the challenges militating against   decent work in Nigeria.
