The former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung has described a police officer who rejected $200,000 bribe, ACP Daniel Amah, as a man of integrity who rejected dollars even when others were accepting dollar bribes.
Dalung made the passing remarks while the police officer was being conferred with an Integrity Award by the Centre for Awareness on Justice and Accountability (CAJA).
He said, “Daniel rejected dollars where dollars are accepted”. The comment generated laughter from the audience.
Amah, was awarded at a public lecture and award ceremony held in Kano by the Centre for Awareness on Justice and Accountability (CAJA) in collaboration with The Penlight Centre themed: “Promoting integrity as a way of fighting corruption”.

The former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Nassarawa station, Bompai Division in Kano, was recently promoted from Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and was conferred with a national honour for his celebrated conduct.
The police officer in April 2022, reportedly rejected an offer of $200,000 to suppress a criminal investigation involving one Ali Zaki who allegedly arranged armed robbers to trail and rob a Bureau D’ Change operator of $750.
In his welcome remarks, the Executive Director of CAJA, Kabiru Sa’idu Dakata said, the event is centred towards celebrating someone every Nigerian needs to emulate and to promote the course of shunning corruption at all costs.
“We want to amplify a good story of something good that happened. As CSO, as we name and shame, we name and praise also.
“We want to debunk the widely believe that an average police officer in Nigeria is corrupt. We want to change this perception. Thousands are clean and credible in discharging their duties and reawakening lost hope of having a better tomorrow.”
Speaking, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali represented by DCP Mukhtar Abubakar Zubair said, contrary to widely believe in the police, the force is glad that good-spirited officers are changing the perception.
