How difficult was it choosing from 14 deals?

Very difficult, I can’t even begin to explain just how tough  making the choice was. It’s like one after the other I had to listen to what people’s plans were for my career and I didn’t like what they were telling me. A couple of times, I considered a deal, and later on when I sat to think it through and pray about it, I would wake up the following day with a better plan for myself than other people had for me.

Vision is something a lot of people with biologically working eyes don’t have. That is because it goes beyond just seeing physically.

When you know what you want, you would be swift to realize when somebody is going off-course of what your vision is. I mean at that stage, there’s really no point going through with something if people do not understand where you are coming from or see where you are going.

I didn’t mind saying no and I rejected several offers a lot of artistes would ordinarily jump at. If I had to keep hustling my way through stuff, if I had to keep taking the bus or cabs instead of jumping at the cars they threw at me with their offers, if I had to keep doing a thousand and one things by myself, all because I had a vision for myself, I really didn’t mind. I would go that path until I reached my desired destiny.

Several times I got super exhausted and tired. I felt drained. The music business isa crazy! There were times when I’d call my manager and cry on the phone and even go as far as saying I wanted to quit.

Those were the times when Twitter would come in handy. I’d just sit by my phone for hours and tweet away, my fans kept me company.

Well, we are here now. And I’m only too excited to get working with Trybe.

What should fans expect of your new video?

The video just dropped. It is for a song called ‘High’ on my GIGO EP project. It is one of the least popular songs on the project, a lot of people were expecting videos for ‘I done did it’ or the Fela inspired ‘Your Fada’ but then again, as always, Eva had a different plan. (Laughs)

I mean, I was at that stage in my career where there was so much talk of Eva and not much in terms of visuals to showcase the brand. So ‘High’ as a video was more of a branding expression for us, an introduction to Eva.

I’m super proud of the work my management and I put in for it and Mex, the Video Director was so amazing.

Plus the fans love it. That means I can rest small.
