But a close observation would have shown that ours is rather a wave of dilemma. We are in a vehicle whose destination is unknown and neither are the drivers ready to entertain any correction or guidance.
There is no doubt that Nigeria is one of the most blessed nations world wide. But her citizens are the most suffering people ever seen. They are deprived of the facilities that determine meaningful living .Government had promised a lot, but none of them is ever fulfilled.
The Nigerian youths are blessed with knowledge and understanding. However, they are frustrated with unemployment. Since the devil will always find work for the idle hand, they switch over to militancy as the only alternative at hand.
Also, the government promised to generate six thousand megawatts of electricity by the end of December, 2009. The period came to pass but nothing has come on board since. All the industries through which the country generates her tax incomes had fled to other countries that do not have the same kind of potentials like Nigeria. What a great loss!
In addition, the state of security in the country is nothing to write home about. The entire citizenry are in state of unrest. There are several cases of robbery, assassination, kidnapping, thuggery amongst others. But since the people in government are moving around with well-armed security men, they deliberately leave the downtrodden to face the consequence of bad governance in the country.
The slogan “good people, great nation” is, of course, an irony. Indeed, the nation is great. But how do you describe the set of people navigating this blessed country towards a ruinous path?
