All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Edo South Senatorial ticket, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has conceded defeat in the recently conducted party primary.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu and Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama had both laid claim to the party’s senatorial ticket following separate primaries conducted by different factions of the party.

One of the primaries, which had the backing of the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, produced former House of Representatives member,  Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, while the other produced Pastor Ize-Iyamu, a former governorship candidate in the state.

Governor Okpebholo and the majority of APC leaders in Edo South have thrown their weight behind Ogbeide-Ihama.

The Governor has also presented him to the Oba of Benin and the party’s national leadership in Abuja as the APC’s Edo South Senatorial candidate for the 2027 election.

Ize-Iyamu in a statement he  issued late Monday evening, said he  accepted the outcome of the party’s  primary, urging members and supporters to put aside personal interests, differences and unite behind the party ahead of the 2027 general election.

Ize-Iyamu expressed gratitude to the party leaders, members, supporters,  grassroots mobilisers, both home and abroad  for their unwavering support throughout his senatorial aspiration.

He stressed that political contests should never weaken the shared vision of building a stronger party and delivering quality representation to the people.
