At its launch in South Africa recently, Nigel Clark, Regional Business Manager, Jaguar Land Rover (South Africa) (Pty) Limited said the introduction of the new Jaguar XJ is a landmark for the revitalized Jaguar brand.

He said the brand is positioned as the company’s ultimate four-door saloon and extends the appeal of the XJ to a new generation of customers.

Clark explained, “Jaguars are renowned for their elegant, sporting lines and the new XJ, with its fluid, contemporary style is the boldest interpretation of yet of Jaguar’s vision for the 21st century. The new Jaguar XJ reflects a vision that defies preconceptions and transforms the idea of luxury. It is a blend of stunning design, intuitive technology and innovative thinking. A contemporary luxury car that is beautiful, exhilarating and sustainable.”

Perhaps, a peep into the features and design of the brand would help unfold its description by Clark.

The front of the new model is bold, deep-set mesh grille and flanked by slender headlamps. Its wide bonnets impart a forward-biased dynamic, promising exhilarating performance before the car has even turned a wheel.

It also has pedestrian sensing device with automatically deployable bonnet. Besides its Front ¾ has 30 litre V6D Diesel Engine.

This engine gives an astounding 80percent of its maximum 600Nm of torque from below 1500rpm.

It also has 5.0 V8 Petrol Engines which is equipped with 6th generation Eaton supercharger.

It has ZF Six-speed Automatic Transmission in addition to normal automatic mode. This rear wheel drive transmission among other things provide winter mode, sport manual mode and dynamic mode.

With Xenon Headlamps and adaptive Front Lighting, the new Jaguar XJ provides powerful illumination and directs the headlamps according to the car’s speed and steering.

Its intelligent high beam automatically dims in response to oncoming traffic, returning to high beam once passed.

On the passenger side of the brand is dramatic coupe styling which is short front overhang, together with a longer rear, overhang, establishes the silhouette of the XJ and lies at the heart of its flowing design.

The passenger side also has panoramic glass roof, aerospace inspired construction, wheelbase, aerodynamics and side power vents which is bright chrome, set into the wings behind the front wheel.

The brakes on the passenger side are standard ABS with enhancements like electronic brakeforce distribution, emergency braking assist and cornering brake control. Its alloy wheels have 10 stunning 18,19 and 20 inch designs.

On the rear and rear passenger space is the parking system including front and rear park aid with visual display and rear camera, power boot lid, 520 litre boot, LED light cluster, exquisite interior, heated and cooled rear seats, 4-zone climate control and rear seat entertainment with independent TV, DVD, CD, radio or music via media hub with touch-screen controller and up to three whitefire wireless digital headphones.

The space also has storage, roof sun-blind, rear electric sun blinds and child safety seats.

On the driver’s seat are Jaguar smart key system, electric seats, itech system, electric parking brake and cruise control with automatic speed limiter, three audio options, cubby box storage, Jaguar senseTM, Airbags and interior lighting.

The new model has a cosseted cabin test drive which offers a rich blend of craftsmanship and quality while its ride comfort and handling is dynamic character, adaptive dynamics.

In terms of cost of ownership, Jaguar XJ has service intervals which means all engines fitted to the car have been extended to 12 months/24,000kms thus helping to reduce the cost of ownership.

Its responsibilities include recyclability, low tailpipe emissions and low carbon materials.a
