The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has begun a nationwide accreditation of 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The exercise, which commenced on Monday, is part of the board’s early preparations to improve standard, enhance security and ensure technical readiness for the examination.
JAMB disclosed that the ongoing accreditation was being conducted simultaneously across different zones of the country and involved multiple stakeholders, including chief external examiners, chief technical advisors, zonal directors, state coordinators, officials of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria and IT officers.
Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, urged the accreditation teams to approach the assignment with diligence and a strong sense of responsibility, stressing that only centres that met the board’s standards should be approved.
He described the exercise as a national duty with long-term implications for the credibility of the UTME.
