The Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq O. Oloyede has expressed concern over low turnout of candidates at registration centers in Kano state.
Professor Oloyede, who made the assertion in Kano on Tuesday while inspecting some designated Computer Based Test (CBT) centers, warned that the board would not extend its closing dateline of February, 2018.
He expressed worried that last year the board was accused of given only one month for registration and this year it had given two months, yet candidates were not coming out for registration.
“I want state categorically that the board will not give any extension after the expiration of February 6, 2018 dateline. So, I am calling on all JAMB candidates, Direct Entry (DE), United Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME) and foreign students to come forward and register for the exam, we have started registration on December 6, 2017 and we are closing on February 6, 2018,” he assured.
Professor Oloyede said he was worried about the poor turnout of candidates in Kano, lamenting that parents and guardians should know that this year, JAMB registration for all categories candidates was going on concurrently.
The registrar, however, expressed satisfaction with level of compliance by owners of CBT centers, saying “I am happy that CBT centers in Kano are duly following our registration guidelines and
processes.”
He urged owners of CBT centers in the state to maintain the tempo of adherence to JAMB rules and regulation, saying the board would not tolerate any unethical conduct on the part of the centers.
