The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said its governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), is not stepping down for others.
It debunked claims allegedly made by the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour that he is talking with what he called “the real owners of PDP structure in Lagos State.”
Spokesman of the PDP, Hakeem Amode said, “PDP is a proper democratic party and it is only the state executive of the party as recognised by the national body that can be described as the custodian of the party under the leadership of the governorship candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor).
“So, those who Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour are talking to are only representing themselves and not Lagos PDP, as no official conversation across the two party lines at the moment, and Jandor is not planning to step down for any candidate.”
Lagos indigenes cry out over threat to voters
A group of Lagos indigenes under the umbrella of ‘Omo Eko Pataki’ yesterday condemned the alleged threat to a section of residents over the forthcoming March 11 governorship election in the state.
A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, who led the group said, “As we speak, there are grand designs to provoke the peace-loving Nigerians, whose resolve is to effect change through the ballot box on Saturday, as threats are being issued against voters suspected to be willing to vote against incumbency.”
George urged the electorate in Lagos “to go out in their numbers on Saturday, to vote against the plundering that has bedeviled our prosperous state for over two decades as adequate security is assured to everyone out to exercise their civic responsibility.”
