Jang wins Plateau North PDP senatorial ticket

JangGovernor Jonah Jang of Plateau State has won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Plateau North Senatorial Zone.

Jang polled 273 votes on Sunday in the primary election held in Jos to beat his only opponent, former ambassador to Ukraine, Ibrahim Kasai who got 18 votes. Unlike the Plateau North exercise which started relatively early and had been concluded by 4 pm, the primaries at the central and southern senatorial zones in Pankshin and Shendam respectively had not gone past accreditation stage by the time of filing this report on Sunday. Former Plateau State governor and incumbent senator, Joshua Dariye; incumbent House of Representatives member for Pankshin\Kanke\Kanam Federal Constituency, Emmanuel Go’ar and Governor Jonah Jang’s ex-adviser on Political Matters, Alexander Molus are the ones contesting for the Plateau Central Senatorial Zone while former minister of the FCT, General Jeremiah Useni; member representing Shendam/ Mikang/ Quan’an Pan, Federal Constituency, George Deka are among those seeking the PDP senatorial ticket for the southern zone. The state attorney general and commissioner of justice who also acts as the state electoral chairman, Hon Barr. Olivia Dazyem announced the results of the Plateau North election.
