The envoy disclosed this at the closing ceremony of the 5th Africa Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction held in Abuja.
“I would like to point out that, disaster risk management is one of the six pillars of the common African Position on the post-2015 Development Agenda,” he added.
Shoji recalled that, as the Japanese Foreign minister said at a ministerial meeting held in Yaoundé, Cameroon the positions of Africa and Japan on the post-2015 development agenda are very close including resilience as a key factor.
He also said the Japanese government has concluded plans to host the 3rd United Nations (UN) World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR) in Sendai March next year.
He said Japan had in the past hosted similar conferences on disaster risk reduction in Yokohama in 1994, while the second conference was held in Kobe.
