Born and raised in Sierra Leone, Jayvely moved to the United States in 2001. Music was, however, not his passion until about two years ago when he wrote a song, ‘Not Our Fault,’ a controversial song targeted at corrupt African politicians. And for him, that was the beginning. In no time, he had written and produced a good number of songs. For instance, his song, ‘Good Conversation,’ an unarguable classic, became an instant hit in Sierra Leone. His debut album, ‘Words of an African’ was released last year, and so far, is believed to be doing well in Sierra Leone.

He is set to hit the Nigerian music scene soon. “I know that Nigeria is like the entertainment capital of Africa with a large market full of music lovers. Once Nigeria accepts your music, you are made,” Jayvely enthused to Weekly Trust.  His songs, ‘Good Conversation,’ ‘Not Our Fault,’ and ‘U Are The One,’ have begun to enjoy airplay in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and neighbouring states like Niger and Nasarawa.

One of his media promoters, George Emine, notes that “With the influences of dancehall, R&B and Hip Hop, we believe his songs would go places. Some critics have however pointed out to us that without the Naija flavour, his songs might not get the kind of patronage he expects in Nigeria.

“In appreciation of this fact, we, his Nigerian agents, have vowed not to be taken unawares. Right now, we are scouting for a couple of Nigerian producers as well as artistes, so that our artiste would not only do a duet with the artistes, but have it produced in Nigeria by Nigerian producers.” He added: “We also hope to remix a couple of the songs in his first album so as to capture the Nigerian market.”

Producers like Mekoyo and Terry G are expected to produce the numerous songs the new act will be coming up with soon. It is also believed that the artiste and his agents in Dakar, Senegal have signified their interest in having at least one colabo (collaboration) with another Nigerian artiste, Nigga Raw.
